Social Responsibility

As an organisation roted in its community, we are committed to enacting our vision through direct interventions of our own. As such, we are proud to be affiliated to the following initiatives:

Mozambique’s Virtual Livelihood School

The Virtual Livelihood School Africa (VLSA) was an initiative of Ford Foundation which sought to build capacity around key livelihood sectors to reduce food insecurity and increase community resilience. Between October 2013 and October 2015, ELIM implemented the initiative in Mozambique, dedicating our professionals to train communities on financial literacy, community banking and food processing at no profit. While the project has since closed, ELIM continues to support the vision of a partnership of multidisciplinary like-minded institutions for improved livelihoods across the Region.

Advocacy for Improved Agricultural Policies and Practices

ELIM is represented on the board of XX agricultural policies in Mozambique where we advocate actively for the development and implementation of strong policies and practices to benefit the agricultural sector. We are adamant protectors of agricultural entrepreneurs and strive in our participation in these bodies to use our technical expertise and private sector experience to represent their plight while applying our principles of systemic facilitation in the private sector-led dialogue with government.

Supporting Assisted Education to Children with Autism

Since 2015, ELIM has been supporting Academia Ludica Infantil in their efforts to improve the quality of education services provided to children suffering from neurological deficiencies within the autism spectrum. Autism remains a poorly known condition, more so in Mozambique, where for lack of awareness, its diagnosis is rare and therapy-based treatment is markedly absent from the curriculum. As part of our commitment to education for all, ELIM continues to sponsor Academia Ludica Infantil in their work to increase awareness of the condition and provide assistance to affected children and their families.

ELIM Paid Internship Programme

We continue to invest in Education and skills development by offering a paid internship in our firm for young graduates who also seek to pursue a career in Development. Every year, we offer 2-4 graduates in areas related to our core business the opportunity to gain experience in international development to further their careers, while also being exposed to a culture of work that will engender in therm the drive to contribute to their community. Since 2014, ELIM has provided paid practical internships to 12 graduates in areas including Agronomy, Biology, Finance, Accounting and Management. This internship is aimed at equipping the next generation of Mozambicans with the tools necessary to actively contribute to the sustainable growth of their country and the Region.
